More Pictures from the "Tribute to Buddy" Dance
Tribute to Buddy Dance at Timonium Fairgrounds
Some months before Buddy had his stroke, "Hairspray" was due to premiere in Baltimore. Buddy wanted to do a dance and asked me if I would help Bob Mathers (Buddy's Producer) set it up. At first I said no. I couldn't imagine doing something on that scale. But, Buddy and his persuasive ways finally convinced me to do it. He called me from Arkansas two days before he was taken sick to see how the plans were coming along. It was the last time we heard from him.
After much soul searching and after getting his family's permission, we went ahead with plans for a dance that we made into a "Tribute to Buddy Deane". So many of the "Deaners" came -- some from as far as California to share in this touching night of remembering Buddy and what he meant to us. Groups like the "Pixies Three" donated their time to perform that evening. So many talented musicians and people who wanted to show their appreciation made the night truly special. When Maryland Public Television wanted to film the event, it mushroomed into an even bigger affair.
It's a night we'll all remember.
1959 Christmas Card Committee Photo
Hello, All ... And, thanks Frani & Linda for such a nice dance! What a great time (not that we've ever had a bad time when we were all together.) Saw Frani's post of the 1960 card and remembered I had the 1959 one. (I'm on this one -- first row of girls on the far right.) Reading through the names we signed and wondering where some of these people are.

Oldies Reunion Dance
I don't know where to start as Linda & I were so overwhelmed by the turnout. We really worked hard trying to get the old committee members together and spent many hours calling, mailing, emailing. blogging etc. It certainly was worth it in the end. I will post once or twice a week to try to remember going down memory lane.
First, we want to thank Joe Loverde for his help & support. Thank you to Joe Kozak for helping us at the front collecting tickets.
I was happy to meet Linda Conn Adari and see her reminiscing with Concetta, Linda Russo & Shirley Temus. I was so happy to see Betty Weise & Ronnie Buttermeyer who traveled from Florida to be with us. I remember Ronnie used to ride home with a group of us on the #22 bus to Highlandtown/Canton area. Ronnie & Betty met again later in life and married. I love these get togethers!
It was great seeing Adam (from Florida), Carl Parks, Rich & Gladys Covert,Jeanne & Joe Wytusiak, Eddie Gatton, Charlie & Colleen Lopresto, John Curreri, Lola & Angie Cantela, Frank Insigna, Lou & Bonnie Matassa, Frani Maxwell & John Frederick, Lou Sonny Linn, Mary & George Layfield, Vicki Defeo Burley, Concetta & John Sankonis, Anne & Rich Tempera, Joanne Dudeck, Billy & Mary Givens.
I'll add more names this week. Thank you everyone and just remember to keep our next date open.

Pictures Just Added Taken Nov. 1983
The pictures I've just posted are of the reunion dance for the Buddy Deane Committee Members with Buddy Deane playing the records. And, yes, they were actually "records" in 1983. Rich and I didn't get together until 1989 and, like some other "Deaners", I had the attitude that no one would remember me after all that time, so I never went to the dances. Boy - do I wish I had.
Helen Crist and I had always remained close over the years and she, Dean Nevin and I went to Wurlitzer's in Hunt Valley one night in September of 1988. When we ran into Gene and Linda Snyder it changed my life forever! They asked me if I remembered Rich Tempera -- and of course I did. Gene said he just left and ran to the door and managed to catch him. We danced a few times and we've been together since -- and that was over 20 years now. (We married in 2001)
The last time I had seen Rich was at a dance in 1961 on a Friday night. The Van Dykes were playing at Maiden Choice Teen Center and I went with some girlfriends. Rich was there and asked me to dance, then asked me if I would go out with him on Saturday. I told him I was a bit busy on Saturday and he asked me what I was doing.
I explained that I was out with my girlfriends for a bachlorette party and since the party was for me -- I was getting married tomorrow. Twenty-eight years later -- there we were -- both divorced.
So many "new/old friends" who are now in my life. What a wonderful group it is with a connection from being on the show that few others can understand.

Obituary additions
I just had an email from Rich Covert reminding me that Bob Boney, whom Wayne & I adored passed away. Also I think we just try to block out the sad news. Also does anyone from '62 remember Bobby Sheidegger (not sure that I am spelling his name correctly)? He passed awhile back. I remember when his Mom came up to the show to teach us the Alley Cat Dance. It worked for a few months and we had fun with it.
Remember Teens n' Tens, the bowling and dance show that we did on Saturday nights for awhile
I remember EvaAnne doing a Hawaiian dance on the show then later became a dance school instructurer. I remember Lola taking dance lessons from her Aunt Lola and having to do a jazz, acrobat dance routine on the show in '63.
Then someone just emailed me to mention that Tony Anders passed away. Arlene had helped him or vice versa on a dance reunion at one time to benefit the firefighters.
I just heard from Linda Conn Adari who will be at our dance in November. It will be nice seeing her again.
Send me your memories.....................Catch us on Facebook, then you can befriend each other from my friends list.

New Years Day at the Tempera's
The Lopresto's checking out Tony Warners' book on Buddy Deane and the committee.
Gene Snyder is signing his autograph next to his picture in the book. Vicki Defeo Burley is taking it all in stride!
Whenever we see a camera light, we just automatically pose. It's in our genes!
Vicki is one of the most photogenic 0f our group and deep in thought.

These were taken at one of our many dances. Wayne takes most of the pictures so there aren't many of us together. :-(
